Electrical Safety Inspections in Los Angeles: What Every Homeowner Should Know

Your home's electrical system is largely invisible, running behind walls, under floors, and above ceilings. Most homeowners have no idea what condition it's in until something goes wrong. An electrical safety inspection changes that, giving you a clear picture of your system's health before a problem becomes a hazard.

At B&M Electrical Services, we perform thorough electrical safety inspections for homeowners across the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, and greater Los Angeles County.

When Should You Get an Electrical Inspection?

  • Buying a home: A general home inspector checks visible outlets and fixtures, not your panel, wiring type, or grounding. An electrical inspection goes much deeper.
  • Selling a home: Identify and resolve issues before buyers discover them in escrow.
  • Home is 25+ years old: Panels and wiring degrade over time. If your home has never had an electrical inspection, it's overdue.
  • After storm damage or flooding: Water and electricity don't mix. A post-event inspection is critical before restoring power.
  • Insurance renewal: Some California insurers now require electrical inspections for older homes before renewing homeowners policies.

What We Inspect

Our licensed electricians examine your main panel and sub-panels for code compliance and signs of wear, check wiring type throughout the home, verify GFCI and AFCI protection in all required locations, test grounding and bonding, and identify any immediate safety hazards. You receive a clear written report, not a scare tactic, just the facts.

The Risk of Skipping It

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), electrical failures are the second leading cause of U.S. home fires. Most are preventable with routine inspections and timely repairs. An inspection isn't an expense, it's protection.

What Happens If We Find Something?

We explain every finding clearly, what it is, what risk it poses, and what fixing it involves. If your panel needs upgrading or circuits need work, we provide a straightforward quote with no pressure. If you need a panel upgrade or new circuits, we handle it all under one roof.

I had a great experience with this electrical service. The team showed up on time, worked efficiently, and finished the job faster than I expected while still doing everything the right way. The price was very fair compared to other quotes I received, which made the whole experience even better because the quality of work was still top-notch. I also want to give a shout out to Barrett for being pr…

Barrett came out and gave me a good price on the work. They replaced my electrical panel and installed a disconnect for my AC unit. Then the next day, had a guy come out to patch up the wall and paint when the stucco dried. He also had the number of an AC technician for me to call to move a thermostat wire. Overall, great work and very communicative throughout the process.
