Three-Phase Power Done Right in Acton & the Antelope Valley

Three-phase power runs the equipment that single-phase can't, large HVAC, compressors, pumps, CNC machines, elevators, commercial refrigeration and most industrial motors. B&M Electrical Services provides three-phase power services across the Antelope Valley and greater Los Angeles County: new and upgraded three-phase service entrances, step-down transformers, panelboards and distribution, motor and equipment circuits, and phase-conversion solutions for properties where the utility doesn't bring three-phase to the site. We work on 208Y/120V and 480Y/277V systems, coordinate new service and capacity upgrades with Southern California Edison, and engineer the distribution so your equipment starts clean and runs cool. Every installation is permitted, code-compliant and verified under load.

Section 01

New & Upgraded Three-Phase Service

Bringing three-phase into a building, or expanding what's already there, starts with the service entrance and the utility coordination behind it. We design and install new three-phase services, upgrade existing single-phase services to three-phase where the utility can provide it, and increase capacity on existing three-phase services to support new equipment loads. We run the load calc, coordinate the meter and service with SCE, install the service equipment, switchgear and metering, and pull the permit through the local jurisdiction. Where a building already has three-phase but not enough of it, we add panelboards, distribution and feeders sized with headroom so the next piece of equipment doesn't max you out.

  • New 208Y/120V and 480Y/277V three-phase service entrances
  • Single-phase to three-phase service upgrades (utility-permitting)
  • Capacity upgrades on existing three-phase services
  • SCE service and meter coordination, permits and inspection
  • Switchgear, metering and distribution sized with headroom

Transformers, Panelboards & Equipment Circuits

Most facilities need more than one voltage: 480V for the big motors, 208Y/120V for everything else. We install dry-type step-down transformers to derive the voltages your equipment needs, add and expand panelboards, and run dedicated three-phase circuits to compressors, HVAC, pumps, CNC machines, welders, elevators and commercial kitchen and refrigeration equipment. Every equipment circuit is sized for the motor's starting and running current, protected correctly, and run with voltage-drop in mind on longer pulls. We also install and wire disconnects, starters and VFDs so the equipment is ready to commission when it arrives.

  • Dry-type step-down transformers (480V → 208Y/120V and others)
  • Panelboard installation, expansion and breaker work
  • Dedicated three-phase circuits for motors, HVAC and refrigeration
  • Disconnects, starters and VFDs wired and ready to commission
  • Voltage-drop-correct sizing on long equipment runs

Phase Conversion When Utility Three-Phase Isn't Available

Many rural and older Antelope Valley sites only have single-phase utility service, and bringing in utility three-phase can be cost-prohibitive or simply unavailable. When that's the case, we engineer phase-conversion solutions: rotary phase converters and VFDs that generate three-phase power on-site from a single-phase supply to run specific equipment. We size the converter or drive to the equipment's actual starting and running load, wire it correctly with the right protection, and verify the equipment runs properly under load. We'll give you the honest comparison, utility three-phase service versus on-site conversion, so you spend on the option that actually fits your equipment and budget.

  • Rotary phase converter sizing, installation and wiring
  • VFD-based single-to-three-phase solutions for specific machines
  • Honest comparison of utility service vs. on-site conversion
  • Correct protection and verification under real equipment load
  • Solutions for rural and single-phase-only Antelope Valley sites

I had a great experience with this electrical service. The team showed up on time, worked efficiently, and finished the job faster than I expected while still doing everything the right way. The price was very fair compared to other quotes I received, which made the whole experience even better because the quality of work was still top-notch. I also want to give a shout out to Barrett for being pr…

Barrett came out and gave me a good price on the work. They replaced my electrical panel and installed a disconnect for my AC unit. Then the next day, had a guy come out to patch up the wall and paint when the stucco dried. He also had the number of an AC technician for me to call to move a thermostat wire. Overall, great work and very communicative throughout the process.
